Natt (the album) has an alluring energy running its instrumental course that is rarely found - by me at least. It reminds me of "II" by ARRM (despite II not having the metal vibes), although the comparison is admittedly vague. The atmosphere is consistent while each of the three songs are very different, both in development and volume, from the improv-sounding guitar solo kicking it off, to the heavy, low end chugging that closes it out. Sound interesting? Check it out. You will Natt regret it.

NATT is a new instrumental band from Bergen. The songwriters behind the music are René Misje (Krakow, Trust Us) and Roy Ole Førland (Lindy-Fay Hella, Kari Rueslåtten, Malignant Eternal); Misje handles guitars, bass, piano and synthesizers while Førland handles synthesizers. They are joined by bassist Lord Bård and Enslaved drummer Iver Sandøy on drums and percussion for the studio session.
Their first public work together, Natt is a three-song/45-minute album. Mesmerizing and at times manic but always magickal, NATT’s music takes the listener on a journey through clean and calm atmospheres that are released in large sonorous, melodic, and heavy soundscapes. Like true mavericks, their music isn’t easy to pigeonhole; across the album, one will hear post-rock, metal, and the progressive end of the scale. Simply, Natt must be experienced.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!!

so many gems in this album but after i went through this in order for my review, i kept returning to this anguished call to humanity, an emblem of despair in vast nothingness. a shred of hope dashed, as this album as a whole speaks to the annihilation of the ideals of humanity and the pedestals they sit on - and what happens when we watch all that shatter. there are plenty of outer space themed albums, but VORGA brings us something worth listening to.

Californian quartet defining themselves as Sci-Fi black metal, maybe due to cosmic and interstellar topics, sounding like blackened death metal too ("The Maw"). It's a well-balanced melodic black metal album, with some fast-paced tracks and nice rhythmic transitions reminding me of Swiss band Celtic Frost (e.g. Terminal Odyssey). In other words not overly dominated by drum speed and also not sounding as extreme or as raw as some BM can be.
