A brand-new entity hailing from Bergen, Norway. Hard-rocking, hard-charging, reeking of rust and diesel, here do PHANTOM FIRE kick out two jams of lithe 'n' lethal metal blackened to a crisp. And while so many nowadays "retro" bands head straight to the party, PHANTOM FIRE are intent on ruining that party, spreading black leathery wings wide and ominously.

A unique take on the traditional, Return of the Goat is a deadly auspicious first start, and the title track's a tasty preview of PHANTOM FIRE's forthcoming debut album, The Bust of Beelzebub, due out early September via EDGED CIRCLE. You've been warned!

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sashavonkarl74

so many gems in this album but after i went through this in order for my review, i kept returning to this anguished call to humanity, an emblem of despair in vast nothingness. a shred of hope dashed, as this album as a whole speaks to the annihilation of the ideals of humanity and the pedestals they sit on - and what happens when we watch all that shatter. there are plenty of outer space themed albums, but VORGA brings us something worth listening to. mintymetal
